Alimak lift impoves access at the boiler house

E.ON’s Cottam Development Centre Power Station, Retford, UK

An Alimak rack and pinion lift has been installed on the boiler house at E.ON’s Cottam Development Centre (CDC) Power Station near Retford in the UK.

CDC Power Station is a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) with a generation capacity of around 400MW. Using single shaft technology CDC is designed to run with an efficiency of greater than 58%. It is situated on the west bank of the River Trent, about eight miles from the market town of Retford near Nottingham.

The Alimak lift is being used for service and inspection work on the boiler house. It has a capacity of 700 kg or 6 passengers and is powered by one electric motor located on the car roof. The lift travels at a speed of 0.59 metre per second.
