Le tunnel ferroviaire sous-marin de 50,5 km relie Folkestone, dans le comt\u00e9 de Kent en Angleterre, \u00e0 Calais dans le nord de la France.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La photo ci-contre montre les ascenseurs de chantier sp\u00e9ciaux con\u00e7us par Alimak pour r\u00e9pondre aux exigences de la forte densit\u00e9 de la circulation. Ils acheminent les personnes et les mat\u00e9riaux dans le puits de 9 m\u00e8tres de diam\u00e8tre et de 100 m\u00e8tres de profondeur depuis la surface jusqu&rsquo;au front de taille du tunnel sous la Manche. La logistique impliqu\u00e9e dans le mouvement des personnes et des mat\u00e9riaux dans le puits d&rsquo;a\u00e9ration a \u00e9t\u00e9 d\u00e9crite par les usagers comme \u00ab colossale \u00bb. L&rsquo;op\u00e9ration, qui se d\u00e9roulait 24 heures sur 24, \u00e9tait assur\u00e9e par un syst\u00e8me de trois \u00e9quipes, avec au d\u00e9part 700 personnes, puis 1 200 personnes, toutes transport\u00e9es dans les ascenseurs. Trois ascenseurs Alimak ont \u00e9t\u00e9 install\u00e9s pour r\u00e9pondre \u00e0 ces exigences. En mars 1989, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 demand\u00e9 \u00e0 Alimak de fournir un syst\u00e8me de manutention verticale qui permettrait de d\u00e9placer le nombre total de personnes \u00e0 chaque changement d&rsquo;\u00e9quipe. La m\u00e9thode d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e par Alimak consistait \u00e0 fournir un Alimak Scando 20\/30 \u00e0 double pont, fonctionnant \u00e0 28 m\u00e8tres par minute, et deux Alimak Scando Super 28\/37 C se d\u00e9pla\u00e7ant \u00e0 96 m\u00e8tres par minute. Ce syst\u00e8me a apport\u00e9 la flexibilit\u00e9 requise par le client, puisque la capacit\u00e9 totale de transport de personnes par d\u00e9placement pour les trois ascenseurs \u00e9tait de 106. La cabine \u00e0 double pont a pu d\u00e9charger les deux unit\u00e9s simultan\u00e9ment gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 des paliers s\u00e9par\u00e9s aux deux niveaux du puits. Une capacit\u00e9 totale de transport de marchandises de 8,8 tonnes \u00e9tait \u00e9galement disponible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au cours des quatre premiers mois de fonctionnement, ces ascenseurs ont enregistr\u00e9 plus de 7 800 heures de fonctionnement, soit un total de 4 100 km sur 25 000 cycles. Le client a effectu\u00e9 des proc\u00e9dures de maintenance standard selon un calendrier hebdomadaire (4 heures chaque samedi matin), ce qui a permis de garantir la fiabilit\u00e9 et la disponibilit\u00e9 de l&rsquo;\u00e9quipement. Alimak a assur\u00e9 un service de d\u00e9pannage 24 heures sur 24.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Les trois ascenseurs \u00e9taient en fonctionnement continu \u00e0 l&rsquo;exception de ces p\u00e9riodes d&rsquo;arr\u00eat pour l&rsquo;entretien. En tenant compte d&rsquo;un cycle de chargement \/ d\u00e9chargement de 90 secondes, la distance de d\u00e9placement combin\u00e9e des trois ascenseurs a \u00e9t\u00e9 prudemment estim\u00e9e \u00e0 65 000 km par an, bien au-del\u00e0 de la distance de d\u00e9placement maximale habituelle des ascenseurs de chantier.
