Den 50,5 km l\u00e5nga j\u00e4rnv\u00e4gstunneln under havet f\u00f6rbinder Folkestone, Kent i England med Calais i norra Frankrike.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Det intilliggande fotot visar de hissar som specialkonstruerades av Alimak f\u00f6r att uppfylla kraven p\u00e5 trafik med h\u00f6g densitet som transporterar personal och material ned det 9 meter breda och 100 meter djupa schaktet fr\u00e5n ytan, till servicetunneln till arbetet p\u00e5 kanaltunneln. Logistiken som \u00e4r involverad i f\u00f6rflyttningen av personal och material ner i ventilationsaxeln beskrevs av anv\u00e4ndaren som \u201denorm\u201d. 24-timmarsdriften betj\u00e4nades av ett treskiftssystem med en personalstyrka fr\u00e5n b\u00f6rjan p\u00e5 700 personer, som \u00f6kade till 1&nbsp;200, och de transporterades alla i hissarna. Tre Alimak-hissar installerades f\u00f6r att uppfylla dessa krav. I mars 1989 fick Alimak en f\u00f6rfr\u00e5gan om att tillhandah\u00e5lla ett vertikalt hanteringssystem som skulle f\u00f6rflytta det totala antalet personal vid varje skiftbyte. Metoden som utvecklades av Alimak var att tillhandah\u00e5lla en Alimak Scando 20\/30 tv\u00e5v\u00e5ningshiss som f\u00e4rdas 28 meter per minut och tv\u00e5 Alimak Scando Super 28\/37 C-enheter som f\u00e4rdas 96 meter per minut. Systemet gav kunden den n\u00f6dv\u00e4ndiga flexibiliteten, eftersom den totala transportf\u00f6rm\u00e5gan per resa f\u00f6r de tre enheterna var 106. Tv\u00e5v\u00e5ningshissen kunde samtidigt lasta av de b\u00e5da enheterna med hj\u00e4lp av ett delat arrangemang p\u00e5 de b\u00e5da stannplanen i schaktet. Dessutom var den totala lastkapacitet 8,8 ton.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Under de f\u00f6rsta fyra driftsm\u00e5naderna registrerade dessa enheter \u00f6ver 7&nbsp;800 driftstimmar. Under den perioden hade hisskorgarna &#8221;klockat upp&#8221; totalt 4&nbsp;100 km \u00f6ver 25&nbsp;000 cykler. Klienten genomf\u00f6rde standardunderh\u00e5llsprocedurer enligt ett veckoschema (4 timmar varje l\u00f6rdagsmorgon), och detta s\u00e4kerst\u00e4llde tillf\u00f6rlitligheten och tillg\u00e4ngligheten f\u00f6r utrustningen. Alimak tillhandah\u00f6ll service 24 timmar om dygnet i h\u00e4ndelse av maskinskador.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>De tre hissarna var i kontinuerlig drift bortsett fr\u00e5n dessa avst\u00e4ngningsperioder f\u00f6r service och m\u00f6jliggjorde en 90 sekunders last-\/avlastningscykel, den sammanlagda k\u00f6rstr\u00e4ckan f\u00f6r de tre hissarna uppskattades konservativt till 65&nbsp;000 km varje \u00e5r \u2014 l\u00e5ngt \u00f6ver den vanliga maximala f\u00e4rdstr\u00e4ckan f\u00f6r bygghissar.
