Two Alimak SL-H 1000 industrial elevators were installed at the PetroVietnam Technical Services Corporation (PTSC) facility in Vung Tau, Vietnam. The elevators were crucial for transporting the workers and tools within a stair tower used for manufacturing offshore wind turbines. The installation was part of a broader project aimed at enhancing the efficiency and safety of operations within the shipyard.
PTSC, a leader in offshore energy services, required high-capacity elevators to support its operations in the production of offshore wind turbine foundations. The primary challenge was completing the installation within a tight timeframe and adhering to strict safety standards.
Alimak was selected as the preferred provider due to our reputation for high-quality, reliable elevators, fast delivery times, and stringent adherence to safety standards. The elevators needed to be operational with minimal disruption to ongoing work, a task that was complicated by the high safety requirements and limited working hours available for installation.
The installation of two Alimak SL-H 1000 elevators was executed with the supervision of Alimak’s Singapore branch, while the physical installation was carried out by UNICO VINA JSC, a local distributor. The elevators were installed on a stair tower with a lifting height of 50 metres and three landings at 0 m, 42 m, and 50 m. These elevators are essential for moving workers and tools for approximately 120-130 hours per month, significantly improving operational efficiency.
The SL-H 1000 model was chosen for its suitability in industrial applications requiring durable, high-capacity lifting solutions. Key features include a 1,000 kg payload capacity, bi-folding car doors with mechanical and electrical interlocking, and a fully collective landing call function. The elevators operate at a speed of 0.5 m/s, ensuring a balance between speed and safety.
The successful installation of the Alimak SL-H 1000 elevators, which were completed on schedule, has significantly improved the operational capabilities at the PTSC facility. The elevators have streamlined the transportation of personnel and tools across different levels of the stair tower, contributing to increased productivity in manufacturing offshore wind turbines.
