The Wenner-Gren Center in Stockholm was originally built in 1962, becoming one of Sweden’s most iconic landmarks. After over half a century as a cultural heritage site, the building’s façade required renovation.
Alimak construction hoists played a crucial role during the original construction of the 74 m Wenner-Gren Center. Now, 63 years later, they were chosen once again for the renovation project. Four Alimak Scando 650 construction hoists were installed, providing efficient vertical transport for people and materials.
Each hoist car can transport a maximum of 2,400 kg, allowing large, bulky items to be moved to their required floors, improving productivity and enhancing safety on site. Alimak construction hoists are engineered to be robust, making them an ideal solution for tough working environments.
Two twin legacy MSHF mast climbing work platforms were also installed, providing a 19.2 m wide platform, which was used to assist in the installation of the new façade panels.
To ensure the renovation project stayed on schedule, the project team needed maximum access to the building façade. An access tower between each hoist pair provided access to every floor via the Alimak hoists.
